Technical Analysis

## 2. Market Context In recent weeks, the hybrid income and convertible securities sector has seen mixed trading activity, as market participants weigh evolving monetary policy expectations against corporate credit fundamentals. Trading volume for CHY has been in line with its average historical levels in recent sessions, with no unusual spikes or drops in volume accompanying the latest minor price pullback. No recent earnings data available for Calamos Convertible and High Income Fund at the time of writing. Analysts estimate that flows into hybrid income products could remain volatile in the near term, as investors adjust portfolio allocations to balance income generation potential with interest rate risk. The broader high-yield credit market has seen modest spread tightening in recent weeks, a trend that may provide some support for assets held by funds like CHY, though shifts in risk sentiment could reverse that dynamic quickly. CHY’s performance has largely tracked the broader hybrid fixed-income peer group in recent sessions, with no idiosyncratic news driving material divergence from sector trends. ## 3. Technical Analysis From a technical standpoint, CHY is currently trading in a well-defined range between established support and resistance levels. The key support level for the fund sits at $10.7, a price point that has acted as a floor for price action on multiple recent testing instances, with buying interest typically picking up as the fund approaches that level. On the upside, the primary resistance level is at $11.82, a prior swing high that has capped upward moves in recent months, as selling pressure tends to increase when CHY trades near that threshold. The fund’s relative strength index (RSI) is currently in the mid-to-low 40 range, indicating neutral to slightly oversold short-term momentum, with no extreme bullish or bearish signals flashing at current levels. Short-term moving averages are trading very close to CHY’s current price, while longer-term moving averages sit slightly below current levels, suggesting a lack of strong established near-term trend as price consolidates between the two key technical levels. Volatility for CHY has remained within its typical historical range in recent sessions, with no signs of unusual price dislocations. ## 4. Outlook Looking ahead, there are two key scenarios market participants are watching for CHY in the coming weeks. If the fund were to test and break above the $11.82 resistance level on higher-than-average volume, that could signal a potential shift in short-term momentum, possibly opening up room for further upside movement aligned with broader sector flows. Conversely, if CHY tests the $10.7 support level, a hold of that level would likely indicate the current consolidation pattern is continuing, while a break below that support on elevated volume might lead to further short-term price weakness. As with all hybrid income funds, CHY’s price action may be heavily influenced by upcoming macroeconomic data releases and monetary policy signals, which could drive shifts in both equity and fixed income markets simultaneously. Market participants may also monitor changes in the fund’s distribution policy and portfolio composition updates as potential fundamental catalysts that could impact price action alongside technical factors. Monitoring macroeconomic indicators alongside asset performance is essential. Interest rates, employment data, and GDP growth often influence investor sentiment and sector-specific trends.
